INTEROVIC is the Interprofessional Organisation of Sheep and Goats, a non-profit organisation recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries And Food. It represents over 90% of the Spanish sheep and goat meat sector, including more than 100,000 producers and around 1,000 companies involved in processing as well as traders.

Our sector contributes significantly to the national economy, employing 250,000 families, most of them located in small towns and depopulated Spain.

Spain is one of the leading exporters of lamb and goat meat in Europe, with INTEROVIC playing a crucial role in expanding international markets. Export values have been growing, with major markets including France, Italy, and the Middle East.

Activities

INTEROVIC defends the interests of the sector and carries out actions to promote lamb and goat meat consumption, through educational campaigns, collaborations with chefs and campaigns in third countries.

We also promote sustainable farming practices among our members, with a significant portion of its budget allocated to sustainability projects. This includes initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve animal welfare. In addition, we invest in research & development to enhance product quality and sustainability. This includes collaboration with research institutions and universities

Since 2001, INTEROVIC has played a transformative role in the Spanish sheep and goat meat sector. Through its efforts in promotion, sustainability, and international market expansion, it has significantly contributed to the growth and modernisation of the industry. The organisation’s ongoing initiatives continue to support the sector’s competitiveness and sustainability, ensuring its long-term viability and success.
